visibilty of lights

Hello!
Do you confirm guys that the only way to see the light disc of single point light source in the rendering is using “point light” type with and associated IES profile and switch on the parameter “show light source”?

Hi @alessandromandala

By default, all light sources emit light but do not appear as physical shapes in the render. You only see the light it casts on objects. Enabling the Light Shape / Light Source primarily lets you see the shape and size of the light in the scene, but it is a viewport visualization rather than a physical emitter that always renders as a visible disc.

To make sure I understand correctly, could you please clarify a few points:

  1. When you say “light disc”, do you mean the actual visible emitter (the glowing round shape) in the final render, or just the light effect it casts on surfaces?
  2. Are you trying to see the disc only in the viewport, or also in the final rendered image?

Thank you, and I look forward to your response. You can also read more here: Lights | User Manual

Thanks for explanation

  1. The glowing emitter
  2. At least in the final rendered image
