Good afternoon,
I hope someone can tell me that I’m needlessly annoyed with D5 Render’s inbuilt UV Mapping - for the brick and the bench materials I can’t alter the A or B faces in isolation, as in when I get one of those with the bricks/timber running in the correct direction, the other direction of brick/timber is wrong - I know this is something I can fix in Rhino but UV unwrapping is not needed at all (or at least barely) for Lumion and having to fix this sort of thing just adds another step in the process
Any help or advice?
Cheers,
Martin
Hi @mc1
There’s currently no option to edit the UV of these surfaces, considering they have been assigned the same material in your 3d Modeling software.
- Even enabling individual UV in the base colour map does not really allow editing these surfaces separately.
- For now, I think having these surfaces assigned with different UVs or, as you have said, changing the UV Wrap in Rhino, are the only options.
@Clov Thank you for your response. I’ve read similar queries about D5 Renders UV unwrapping which were posted years ago, I hoped this would of been resolved by now. Is there a way if this is on the ‘road map’ of possible updates?
Hi @mc1
I have forwarded this feature suggestion further to our team; hopefully, this will get included as soon as possible.
I think that there is a possible workaround.
You should assign a diffent material in your modeling software on those surfaces than in D5
apply the same texture with the same scale and rotateand move it to match the rest.
Hope this help.
@s.bernard yes, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing - but it’s not ideal, I’ve noticed a simialr issue with paving for example, where I modelled the paving using different surfaces and then applied a paving texture, the orientation is of the paving is not consistent - so then having to create 3/4 material instances for just one paving surface is tedious
Sure it is not ideal but it is the way to go…
