Summary of the Issue

Subject: Urgent: “Cannot find D5 Render” error persists in 3ds Max after all troubleshooting steps

Hello,

I am experiencing a persistent “Cannot find D5 Render” error when trying to launch D5 from the 3ds Max plugin (D5 Converter).

I have already performed an extensive set of troubleshooting steps, but the issue remains unresolved. My primary goal is to request direct assistance, possibly through remote support, as I believe the problem is specific to my system’s environment.

Troubleshooting Steps Already Taken:

  • Standard Reinstallation: Uninstalled and reinstalled both D5 Render and the D5 Converter for 3ds Max multiple times.
  • Run as Administrator: Consistently run both 3ds Max and the D5 Render installer with administrator privileges.
  • Clean Reinstallation: Used Revo Uninstaller to perform a deep clean, removing all leftover files and registry entries related to D5 Render and the converter before reinstalling.
  • Path Verification: Confirmed the correct program installation path (e.g., C:\Program Files\D5 Render) and understand the distinction between the installation path, the user workspace path (e.g., D:\D5 WorkSpace), and the AppData folder. The plugin is still unable to locate the correct installation path.
  • Security Software: Disabled antivirus and firewall software during the reinstallation and execution process.

Despite all these efforts, the error continues to appear.

Could you please provide further assistance? I would be grateful if remote support is an option to diagnose this issue directly.

Thank you.

Hi @hayeonya24

Please confirm if the Windows account you’re currently using has special characters, if there are, try to erase them.

  • If there are multiple Windows accounts, try logging in, then try to install and then run the plug-in
  • Did you install the plug-in via the D5Launcher, if not, you’re welcome to try it.

Another troubleshooting option is to try the following steps:

  1. Manually open D5 into a blank project
  2. Click “Start Sync” if everything works correctly, close and exit D5
  3. Click “Start Sync” again to relaunch D5, then check the result.

Additionally, please provide the following information/screenshots

  • Plug-in Version
  • 3dsMax Version
  • D5 Render Version
