Unable to open D5 Render after updating to 2.11

I have been using D5 with revit workflow very smoothly till I updated to 2.11.

Whenever I tried to open, an error occurs stating that program startup failed. So I uninstalled and reinstalled 2.10. However, the same error occurs.

Hi @Clov

Thanks for getting back to me.

I’ve updated D5 to the latest version, done a clean reinstallation of my drivers and ran the DXR Repair Tool as well. I am able to launch D5 Render however, it keeps crashing when I try to open any of the ongoing projects.

Here’s the error that I received on the latest try:

Following are the images of my system as requested.

Thanks.

Hi @michaela

  • This issue is only specific to this particular file, right?
  • And how big is its file size?

An out-of-memory error prompt usually means there are a lot of assets in your D5 Render file that may be too much for your device to handle, considering that you only have an 8.0 GB of VRAM. If the file size is relatively small, then it should work, but as the file gets bigger or complicated, issues may arise.

Hi @Clov

I upgraded my RAM from 16gb to 64gb rather than upgrading my VRAM from 8gb to 12gb. Works perfectly now.

I work on asset heavy multi-level interior projects like this one.

So, I definitely needed a hardware upgrade. Thanks for the help!

You do know my castle project. do i need to worry that i cannot open it in 2.11, if i install the update?

Alright, thanks for updating us!

Hi @3d-ontwerp-visualisa

There’s a known issue for 2.11 which occurs to other users, I personally have not experienced it on my end but we have confirmed several users who are unable to open files made from older versions.

It might be best to wait for this specific issue’s fix just to be sure that it won’t happen your end.

Thank you for the reply. Do you think this will be foxed before 20 of august?

Hi @3d-ontwerp-visualisa

I’m not sure and I can’t give you a specific time frame since it could be an earlier date or beyond August 20, but rest assured, this particular issue is being prioritized.
