Good morning, I have just started using this fantastic 3D program. I am asking for help regarding this need of mine. Is it possible to have a transparent background with only shadows so that I can then place the object (for example a bench) in a real photo using Photoshop?

You can render the image and then enable the Transparent Channel, you can use this channel to easily select the objects via the Magic Wand Tool in photoshop.
