Transfer painted assets to a different layer

Can we transfer the painted assets into a different layer? Not in the same layer as the model it was painted on. I have a big environment, and I’m drop painting lots of foliage. I can’t hide all the grass and painted assets unless I hide my models too.

Thank you.

Currently su and 3d max support grouped import into D5. You need to separate the groups in the modelling software first, and use sync plugin to export the file in d5a format and then import it into D5, the scene will contain the grouping information. Other modelling software doesn’t support this feature yet.

Are you wanting to categorise and manage assets in D5? If so, you can click on this button in the screenshot and then categorise the assets to view them. You can use this button to show only a certain type of asset and then change their layer via the menu bar on the right.

Hi @LunaLang,

Correct me if I’m wrong. When I paint Assets like plants using Brush. They don’t appear on the “Object” list. I found them connected to the SketchUp model. As Brush History, under “Brush records”.

I would like to put my painted Brushes/ Assets into a Layer. So i can hide them easier.

Thank you.

Hello! Did you add these assets in SU and then sync them to D5, or are they library assets added in D5?

Assets are from D5- Assets Library. Scattered using Scatter tool - Paint brush.

Hello, I may made some mistake before. If you use the plants asset as brush, they will just show in the brush record. This is normal. If you want to change their layer, please place them separately

Yup this is what I found out. But it would be nice to be able to place them under a “Layer”.

Thank you.

It is possible to put plants on a layer if you place them individually instead of using them as brushes.D5 brushes currently need to be dependent on the face to exist. If you have some suggestions about brushes or layers, you can make them in the forum. Latest Ideas & Requests topics - D5 RENDER FORUM
