I have a large file from a building containing hundreds of groups. The deadline is this friday, so hopefully someone has a quick fix.
I have checked and all faces are front faces, but the following problem occures. The texture is imported from sketchup, because that is exactly the color and style it needs to be.
The normals, etc. are flipped on different parts of the structure (in different groups).
See below (clay model)
Please let me know the version of su and D5 you are currently using, and the version of the sync plugin. Does this problem only occur in this scene file, or does it occur in any scene? Please send us your su file if possible.
You can share a link to me or send your files to our email. (support@d5techs.com, please describe the problem and add the link of this post to your mail)
It has been my experience that this type of flipping happens when geometry has been flipped as a group or component about the x, y, or z axis. Front faces are still facing correctly but for whatever reason the render software still āseesā the flip of the geometry group or component.
Yes, sadly that has been my experience as well. My workaround was to explode the groups or components and then go through and flip the faces that were having issues in D5 still. Thankfully the model wasnāt too large but it was necessary or else the renders didnāt look great. I suppose another method would be to identify the faces that were with a normal flipped in D5 and then assign them another material so that in D5 that material could match the others but with a negative normal map valueā¦still would take time.
