Terrain: height map orientation

I made a terrain with custom height map (height map has to be quadratic?)

As seen in the height map miniature, north is UP

BUT…

the terrain seems to be rotated 90° counterclockwise, because the sun settles where north should be in the height map (north offset is 0°)

Is this a bug? Is it possible to rotate in D5?

the method you’re trying to import height map has problems and gives you no control, I would suggest importing any of “height maps” from asset library, then changing the map by selecting on it, this way you have full control, including scale, rotation, etc.

Thanks! This worked (but is also rotated 90°)
But i still think this is a bug that should be changed. UP in a height map should be north in the 3D environment.

Hi there,

We tested it using the terrain map image you provided. Currently, it is expected for terrain maps and assets to follow a default direction. However, we will take your suggestion into consideration for future updates. Thank you for your valuable feedback!

Thank you!! It will be much easier working with real world heightmaps because for centuries north is usually at the top of a map.
