Strange Lighting Reflections

Hi everyone,

I’m encountering an issue with lighting reflections on refrigerator blocks in my D5 Render project, and I’m looking for advice.

Here’s my workflow and the problem:

  1. I work in Revit, where the refrigerator blocks are 3D models from AutoCAD linked into the Revit model.
  2. To improve the lighting, I add strip lights inside the refrigerators and at the base of the units.
  3. However, when rendering in D5, the light appears to distort or deform, creating a strange effect, as shown in the attached image.
  4. The issue persists even when exporting the render at higher resolutions, although it becomes slightly less noticeable.

I’ve tried:

  • Removing the refrigerator blocks from Revit and importing them independently into D5 using other methods (FBX, SKP, etc.), but the problem remains.
  • Testing variations in material and lighting configurations.

Has anyone experienced similar issues when working with imported geometry from Revit? Could it be related to material reflections, geometry accuracy, or how D5 handles linked models?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Hi there,

I apologize for the inconvenience. Would it be possible for you to send us this specific object file? I would like to test this issue on my end. You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled “Clov-Forum Strange Lighting Reflections

Sure. I just sent it. Thank you very much

Hi @brenda,

We tested the issue using the object file you provided, but we couldn’t reproduce the unusual lighting reflections. It appears that the problem may be related to your environment. Could you please share the D5 file with us? This will allow us to examine it and help identify the issue.

Here’s the workflow we followed to achieve our render result:

  1. Imported the DWG file into Revit.
  2. Synced the model into D5.
  3. Applied a normal glass material to the front surface.
  4. Added strip lights in D5.

This result was achieved with Super Resolution and Frame Generation turned on.

Thank you!

Hi Anthony,

Thank you for your response and for taking the time to help me address this issue. I’m glad you were able to test it! The render looks great; however, if you check the points I’ve marked in the attached image, you might notice the unusual lighting reflections I’ve been experiencing.

Following your advice, I activated Super Resolution and rendered at 2K, but unfortunately, I’m still encountering the same issue. Additionally, I also tried enabling Frame Generation, but I couldn’t find it within the settings. My version is 2.9.1.0509, and as far as I know, this option should be available. I’ve attached a screenshot for reference.

Lastly, I’ve included the D5 Render file as requested. If you also need the full Revit file, just let me know!

Thank you again for your support.
