Some small issues and requests

I’m new to D5 but I found small issues.

  1. Accumulation ( F4 ) cause that material edit panel is closing. I think that this is bad behavior because if user do preview ( F4 ) material panel should be opened for further editing
  2. When object or material is selected it is visible in final rendering too as black outline.
  3. There should be option to turn off selection outline from view.
  4. Undo for camera movement should be applied.
  5. It would be great to have the same viewport zooming option as in other 3D software - not only by mouse wheel but with alt or control + right mouse button

Hi @Smolak

Please post this in Ideas and Requests.

But I would like to mention no. 2, I tried it on my end, selected the model (which prompted the outline) > and rendered it

Hi Clov,

If material is selected it is visible in rendered image :

I also noticed that selected channels are not stored in scene file. Every time scene is opened channels are always set to AI Post

Hi @Smolak

I’m pretty sure the material can’t be selected in the photo image window (the Material Dropper and shortcut are disabled when in this state), and you can only select the individual object of this asset.

Can you clarify how you did the process on your end? I would like to replicate this issue.
Note: I am using online assets from D5 Library.

  • As for your other concern, I suggest saving the Scene in Render Queue so you can save the channels that you need.

Strange but it works fine now. Maybe it is random issue.

As for render channels I mean that after D5 restarting it always has AI channels selected by default even if we saved scene without any channels enabled.

Hi @Smolak

Are you suggesting having it disabled by default? I think the AI Channel Map is enabled by default to improve selection when AI Tools are being used.

Hi @Clov

I think that software shouldn’t overwrite user choices after reloading scene. If user use AI it should know to enable AI Channel Map  I didn’t tested if other channels ( enable/disable states ) are stored in scene file too.

Hi @Smolak

I just confirmed with our team that the AI Map and other AI Channels are controllable and their settings are unique to each individual scene. For example, if you enable a specific channel like Material ID in Scene 1, those settings will be retained only in that scene and will not affect any others. :slightly_smiling_face:

  • This should be the normal process, but as I have tested it, it seems to be doing otherwise, and I have reported this issue further to our team.
  • For now, upon reopening your file, just click on the scene again, and the changes should reflect.

Thank you @Clov for deeply explanation. I’m new in D5, coming from Cinema 4D and Octane but I found that your software is one of the best for creating architectural visualizations. This week I going to Pro version finally. Quality, insane amount of ready to use models, materials with top-notch quality final render and AI !

But meanwhile you did some very strange bad in my opinion feature that disturbing me while working on materials. I mean about this dark harsh outline while selecting and editing materials. It is very bad because it cause that we don’t have possibility to see difference between materials outside selection like bricks or elevation panels. Please make option to temporary disable, remove this outline in options. Please see in attached video what I mean. Thanks !

Hi @Smolak

Alright, thanks for your feedback regarding the outline. We’ll see what we can do to improve it.
