Snap, move, lighting function of D5 render. help me!

Hello.
I installed d5 for the first time and am a 3ds max user.

1>
Not from 3ds max, but from d5 itself
When adjusting the location of the animation curtain, etc.

Is it possible to fine-tune the position of
an object in the top/front/left view as in 3ds max?

I want to move in detail in ‘mm’ units using the xyz axis.

+)Curtain size can’t be adjusted to the ratio I want, is that right?

2>
When placing the curtain in the center inside the curtain box
Can I make various snaps? (center snap, etc…)
I want to adjust the location in detail, not like the attached image.

3>
View movement is too confusing.
Can’t I go to the wasd button in orbit mode?
When I keep moving the mouse wheel, it goes where I don’t want to go.

4>
Do I have to change orbit / fly mode while working?
Is there a shortcut that I can easily switch between the two modes?

5>
If you have finished the lighting operation in 3ds max,
Is it inevitable that the feeling of lighting changes when converted to ->d5?
After converting to d5, do I have to reset all the lighting in the end?

I think it’s a very good program.
It’s still very unfamiliar and difficult. Sorry for the many questions.
Please help me.
thank you!

Hi valentineeeee
The program, if you explore it well, there are a lot of functions you should see the D5 manual, Solutions : D5 Render
There are many icons that indicate the function for everything you want to do, not only if you use the program’s drop-down menus there are many options with the indication of the quick keys, in short, as you rightly said, you should use it a little more. You will see that it is easy, don’t be afraid to do it, even if you use 3d studio as a large program.
Then if you go to YouTube you will find a myriad of tutorials, in different languages, ask the right search question and a myriad of videos on D5 will appear.
I hope I have encouraged you to open up your horizons, it is not easy to explain everything you have written point by point, but you will get there on your own because the program is designed to simplify the work.

Hi @riccardofortelli
1>
In the top/front/left view, you can select the object in object(left sidebar), and it will show the axes of the object, then you are able to move it along the xyz axis.

You can select the object and resize it here, and can unlock the default setting of proportional scaling.

2>
If the curtain in D5 is a whole object, you are unable to edit it as separate parts.

3>
WASD button only work in fly mode.

4>
I recommend you use fly mode during your work.
‘Alt+V’ can switch the two modes

5>
Lights can be synced to D5, but Vray Light domes/Vray Light grids/Vray Light ambient lights in 3ds max are not supported to be imported at this time.

Leah

I tried to adjust the size according to the attached image,
but it couldn’t be adjusted to the ratio I wanted. Is it because it is a free version (for example, a vertically narrow and long shape/a different ratio from the existing asset)?

Thank you very much for your detailed reply :)!!

Your ‘don’t be afraid’ is a great help to me.
Thank you for the link :)!!

Hi again, I’m glad you appreciated the encouragement. I read above, if I understood correctly that you have 3d max try Free, why don’t you try Blender which is totally Free with a lot of Plugins and also furnishings, and a bit similar to 3d Max, but if you have time to learn it, there are many video lessons and tutorials on YouTube, check them out.
Good work

Is blender much different from d5? Does d5 look difficult to me? T.T
d5 is a new program for me. It’s very interesting.
I want to make a video. I didn’t expect to be recommended for Blender on d5 forum. But Your suggestion is new and appreciated.
