Hi all,
On several occasions, when using smart fill in my renders, it doesn’t work properly — it often leaves areas unselected. It’s frustrating.
This could be resolved by implementing selection through the Material ID, as in this case, the areas are correctly defined.
I hope this gets fixed. Other than that, I’m very happy with the progress of D5 ^^
Are you perhaps talking about Post Process Rendering software, such as Photoshop? You can render the Material ID, too, then overlay it with the original image for precision.
I was referring to Inpainting, I explained it incorrectly. When I try to select specific areas, the selection doesn’t work properly; it gets mixed with other elements that shouldn’t be included, so the effect applied ends up being incorrect. That’s what I meant ^^.
I understand it’s still in BETA, but I believe adding a selection method based on Material ID could fix this.
Alright, I understand. We will forward this suggestion to our team. Additionally, both of these images were rendered with the AI Post Channel (although the photo shows it is checked), right?
You can actually select multiple surfaces at once by holding down the Ctrl Button then selecting the surfaces. I’m not sure if you’re already aware of this, but this might help for now.
And yes, I do know that by holding Ctrl I can select multiple surfaces — it’s just that when I try to select the areas marked in red using Ctrl, the issue I mentioned happens… the selection spills over into unwanted surfaces. That’s why I made the suggestion — to get the most out of Inpainting and make it truly useful in a professional context.
