Sketchup Textures Component Repeat?

Hi D5 Team - can you please resolve this issue? In Sketchup when creating components textures in D5 show as repeat pattern. Can you make it possible to apply textures to components without exploding the component in Sketchup. This is very destructive and causes allot of extra work when the design changes. Not sure how this is possible in D5? But this will be EXTREMLY helpful to apply textures to components without exploding geometry.

Look forward to your response.

Hi @WB5

Sorry, but I don’t quite understand the issue. I tested it on my end, created a Component in SketchUp and changed its material in D5 Render.

Hi Team - your example is correct. However when creating a component in Sk with a texture the texture will show a obvious repeat pattern. Copy of each component with the texture looks unreal. See pink arrows.

Can D5 allow to ignore the repeat pattern so the pattern of the brick looks more random across the pleated brick. If I explode the components(brick pleats) the textures show more random over all the pleats and the repeat pattern reduces (pending on the texture size)

But this means you cant use components in Sk with D5.

Lumion can do this. Lumion can ignore the component and the texture can spread over the geometry without being bound to the component. Hope I have explain it better?

Hi @WB5

Thank you for the thorough explanation.

Currently, there is no setting available to address this specific issue. To help our team better understand the feature you are requesting, could you please provide us with the following?

  • The name of this option as it appears in other rendering software.
  • A reference image that shows the intended result when the feature is activated.

This additional information will help us improve in subsequent releases.
