Sketchup Crashes with Sketchup Converter

  • After clicking on the button to synchronize the Sketchup converter with D5, Sketchup crashes. when it comes to the 100% stage, sketchup turns itself off and generates an error report before it is transferred to D5. I don’t get any errors when I perform this operation on other sketchup files. In order to update my file in D5, I first save the sketchup file, and then I have to update it with the update file option in D5. And that’s delaying my job.

  • Synchronizing Sketchup to D5

  • Error report caused by sketchup crash

  • I can only update from this button for now.

Hello Furkan, sorry to hear that you ran into this problem. To confirm, this problem happens to this specific file, not all files, right?
Please make sure you are using the latest version of D5-SU converter.
And if the problem remains, could you please send this skp model to support@d5techs.com?
We will keep it confidential, and try to reproduce the problem first.

Yes, I am having this problem in this file, I don’t know if a model in it may also be the reason for this, but I haven’t found a solution.

Hello, do you mean a model in the skp model or D5 scene file? If you start a new empty file in D5 Render then sync the model to this scene, can it work?

I mean, a sketchup model could be the reason for this. Maybe a flower or a bed, I don’t know, just guessing. I tried the Converter again by opening another new D5 file, but the result was an error in Sketchup again.

Alright, then we have to check the skp model if you can send it to us, I think we need to read the logs to narrow down the issue cause. :smiling_face_with_tear:

The sketchup file will be transmitted via wetransfer shortly.

@Oliver.J the model has been transmitted

Hello Furkan, yeah I received the model and also let our tech team test that. In a test machine with 16 GB RAM, it cannot sync to D5; while in another one with 64 gb, it syncs to D5 with no problem. We think the problem is related to the RAM. You can upgrade your RAM or close other software then try again.

Best regards,
Oliver

Hello Oliver, first thank you for your return reply and your help.

I have 32GB RAM. I have not encountered such a problem until now. Even in files heavier than this one. I was wondering if there might be a bug in the converter.Because you recently released an update to Sketchup Converter. Is that possible ?

Hello Furkan, we read from the logs and did not find bug, and it just said that RAM is out of usage.
By the way, if you want to test the old version of SU plugin, please check the private message I sent you.

@Oliver.J Thanks Oliver for old version.

I tried the previous version. Like I said, I think there’s something wrong with the new version of the converter. Because I solved this problem by installing the old version that you sent. When I activate the converter, sketchup no longer generates errors and it doesn’t close anymore. You should consider this situation.Because this indicates that something is wrong with the new version of the converter.

Alright Furkan, thanks for letting me know that. We will probably release a new version which has some optimizations, could you try it as well? I will also send it to you in private message now.

@Oliver.J Hello Oliver, I have tested your new version. Sketchup did not close and did not crash. Everything has been transferred as it is, and it is successful. I think it’s a problem caused by RAM optimization.

I’m wondering something, Oliver. Will it be possible to check the changes in Sketchup simultaneously with the Sketchup converter in D5, which upgrades will also be possible? For example, will we be able to automatically transfer an object to D5 simultaneously when we delete or add it? Or do we have to refresh the sync every time something happens that we want to fix? What I want to tell you is the synchronization logic in Lumion. When synchronization is activated, everything is automatically transferred to Lumion without any renewal, that is, it works simultaneously. Is it possible to see this in the D5 in the future?

Hello Furkan, yes it is possible in the future, we will do complete live sync for all converters.
