Sheer/voile like modeling challenge

Hey everybody,

I am working on a project that has a reference image like below

Which is hanging sheer-like fabric.

In my model I want to create a similar feeling but I cannot get it right.

I have tried cloth fabric with and without opacity map. And couple more ways that I could think of but never could get close to the result. The best I get are below

It is mostly showing solid or if I try opacity map I get things like below

These might look close to the reference but I think there must be a better approach.

The second and more important issue I have is the lights source has too much effect on the fabric and the intensity is already below 0.1.
I want to have the shadow effect on the fabrics like it shows but the source is showing too much since it is very close to the fabric(which it should be)

Is there any way I can reduce this close-to-texture spotty brightness and also keep the shadows and lights the same?

I am using point light in this case, have tried rectangle/disc light but did not gdt me good results.

It is getting crucial since it is the main purpose of the project

Thank you every one

Hi @nima.mousavi9

  • Perhaps you can try using a basic plane where the emissive parameter is enabled
  • You can also try changing the basic colour map similar to the texture of the fabric that is being used in this installation.

@Clov Thank you for your response
The color is not a matter; the texture/light similarity is the point.

using a plane, as you mentioned, I have thought about that, but the plane itself would be visible, also, I wanted to try an emissive basic model plane instead of light source, but there was no way to make it both emissive and invisible
