Is there a way to have a Section Plane enabled (visible) only for specific Scenes?
For example, I would like it enabled for top-down “Doll House” views where you can see the interior, but all other interior/exterior scenes I don’t want the Section Plane enabled.
If I understand correctly - click on your interior scene, turn off the section tool in the object list and update your scene. The scene should no longer have the section active.
Thanks Chris – that’s pretty much how I expected it to work. I could’ve sworn I tried that without luck (all renders had the Section enabled), but I’ll try it again.
Thanks for the explanation Chris, that works fine on very simple projects.
The issue shows up once you have many scenes. If you add a new section later, you have to go back to every existing scene, turn the section off, and update it manually. That doesn’t scale well.
It gets even worse when the project includes video clips, because the section affects all keyframes, so you end up having to update each keyframe of each clip.
So while the workaround exists, it becomes very time-consuming on real-world projects. A per-scene section state (like SketchUp) would avoid all of this.
