I’m a Sketchup + D5 Render user working on conference spaces designs
I feel like I don’t understand the materials well yet so need help with rendering screens in dark environments

- Textures blow out or get distorted/pixelated.
- Screens are too dark, too bright or too saturated, losing original graphics quality
- Struggling to make screens emit light naturally without overexposing the screen and scene.
Rendering plain colors looks better, but cleaning up in Photoshop is time-consuming

Hi there,
I apologize for any inconvenience. Have you tried adjusting these sliders to better achieve your desired output?

Or insert a dark or light photo in the intensity portion to better control the parameter

Thank you for the fast feedback!
I’ve been tweaking settings, and the image is improving, but something still feels off. Maybe I’m pushing D5 too hard. Tried adding same image to Intensity Map and it helped with Image blowing up in the dark areas!
Base Color Map + Intensity Map
Photoshop still looks better when it comes to the preserving Graphic quality, but so much hassle with masking and editing
Desired result would be something similar to the following mockups:
*** For the Fill Light effect found a Temporary fix:
Added a rectangular light in front of the screen to fill the space, matching the screen’s color. Still, I wish I could make the screen itself emit light more naturally, especially since the graphics may vary in color.
No fill light render:
Hi there,
Just to clarify, the graphics you have inserted in the screen is a JPG Image, right? Or is it a video?
There will be varying results since D5 will include the surrounding light and other sources as compared to Photoshop (closer to reality). If you wish to achieve a result that is quite similar to the mockup, I think it would be better to try on other material templates and then try to insert the image in the Base Color Map. You may try and see if it helps you achieve your desired results.
Yes I used JPG image
I did try PNG too, but there was literally no difference. Also, no mater how big was the resolution of the design, increasing the intensity of the emmision would blow quality
I will try to fiddle with setting more with upcomign project. Will definetely update my findings here
Hi @alienbelldesign
