Hey everyone,
I’m hoping someone here might have an idea – I’m a bit stuck:
I was working on a scene in D5 and everything was going smoothly until my last save. When I reopened the file, the entire screen went black. No matter how far I zoom out or move around, I can’t see anything – it’s just black.
Interestingly:
When I hide the imported object layer, I can see the terrain background and D5’s decoration assets again. So the file isn’t completely broken – but something seems to be blocking the view or causing the model to glitch.
I already searched the forum and found similar cases, but unfortunately none of the suggested fixes worked for me. I’m currently using D5 version 2.1 in combination with Rhino 6 for modeling.
Has anyone experienced this before?
Could it be a camera issue, lighting, or a problem with the model itself?
Any tips would be super appreciated!
I apologize for the inconvenience… Based on the behavior you’ve described
The black screen disappears when hiding the object
or enabling “Smooth Mode” (You can try showing the model, then activate Smooth Mode)
The model’s complexity is likely the cause. Optimizing the model, particularly by reducing its polygon count, should help. It appears the current size might be too demanding for D5 Render.
I’m not exactly sure how to enable “Smooth Mode” — could you please clarify where to find that option?
Also, I doubt that the issue is caused by a high polygon count or file complexity. My scene is actually quite simple, with very few objects and not much detail overall. That’s why I think the problem might lie elsewhere.
Can you send us your D5 File and Log File? So we can troubleshoot it in our end and see the Aftermerge Value. (which is usually seen in the log file, and if the value exceeds 40,000 there is a need for you to optimize the 3d File)
You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum Scene Turns Black After Saving’
Changing the Smoothing Mode didn’t make any difference, unfortunately. However, I did notice that when I activate Geo Sky, the scene displays with visible banding/stripes:
Thank you for sending your files. We have opened it successfully, and the issue also persists on our end. Can you also include the Rhino File? The issue may be caused by a specific portion of your 3D Model, and we would want to investigate it.
