RTX 5090 gpu utilization low with scatter presets.

Hey, every time I use a grass scatter preset D5 does not use more than 1-60% gpu during render. Extremely slow rendering times. Many scenarios so not tied to an imported model.
i9 285k, RTX5090, 64gb ddr 5 6800mhz ram, Win 10. Latest D5 Pro version.

  • Which D5 Render Version are you using?
  • Was this result consistent ever since you started using D5?
  • Can you please check if D5 Render is utilizing your RTX GPU?

Suggestion:

  • It might be best to update your system and graphics card driver and see if there are any improvement.




I am unable to update graphics card driver because D5 round corners break with any new Nvidia drivers.

With scatter layer disabled gpu hits 100%.

Alright. Just an additional question:

  • Were you able to use D5 Render normally before? Perhaps, were there any actions that you took before experiencing this issue? Such as a Windows update or a GPU Driver downgrade?
  • 2.11 will fix the round corner issue, so if you will be receiving the update prompt I recommend immediately updating to 2.11 + updating your drivers to the latest version.

Some scatter effects on specific plain geometry work ok, any uneven geometry using scatter results in low gpu utilization.
I will wait for 2.11.

2.11 has now officially launched. Please try it. Let me know of the results , thank you.

Issue with low GPU utilization and scatter on uneven terrain remains in 2.11. Plus even slower rendering. 2.11 also behaves like a bloated un optimized software. Maybe some polish is required. Probably will go back to 2.10 for some time.

Open my working file today. Materials like glass are dark like mirror and I am unable to select any of the items (furniture) in the scene.

Scatter causes issues with 2.10 as well with RTX 5090. With scatter on, each scene would take about minutes to render, and GPU utilization stays very low at around 10%-20%, or less.

Scatter (grass) turned off, now it takes less than a minute to render a scene. GPU utilization also goes up much higher at around 80% at times.
