Hello, I’m running D5 and Revit with 5090 RTX with latest drivers. Having difficulty getting the section tool to work correctly. I know it’s in beta, so maybe this is just something that hasn’t been worked out yet. When I go to make a section the tool seems to affect some geometry (in the Revit model), but not others. I’m synced (so not a direct import) because, well, that’s how I use it to validate iterative design decisions. Thoughts or suggestions? I’ve been careful with Layer management. Would love to see this work since so potent. Thanks in advance!! And apologies if this has already been discussed-- I searched.
Can you send us a screenshot of what it looks like on your end? Since you mentioned that the section tool in D5 works with other objects, and some are not affected.
- Try to point out which specific objects are affected and are not
- What’s your Livesync Version? Can you send us a screenshot?
Not exactly sure why but it seems to be working now. Maybe it needed a system reboot. Here are my settings for D5 Sync. But now I have a new question-- why are only some elements adopting the color fill cut but my Revit walls are not?? I’ll add that screen shot here as well.
Can you send us your Revit File and D5 File? We would like to test it on our end.
- Please send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum Revit to D5 Section Tool Element Visibility Issue’
Unfortunately I cannot share these particular assets but I will create a test project and send those if I encounter the same issue again. Thank you!
Thank you.
Please check the structure of the Revit walls that are currently displaying without fills in the section view.
Revit allows the definition of layered walls, where materials are added to the exterior and interior faces of the primary Structural Core.
- We need to determine if the walls in question are constructed this way, for example, a structure consisting of a core and two other exterior/interior material layers, potentially including air gaps.
The fundamental rule for the Section Tool in D5 is that it only displays a fill pattern when it cuts through a solid material layer that possesses a defined thickness.
- If the exterior or interior wall layers have zero or negligible thickness (or are primarily air gaps), it is expected for the fill to not appear in the section view, as the cut is essentially passing through a void or a boundary, not a substantial solid.
