Revit Linked Models – Global Material Application with Color Picker?

Hi D5,

I’m working on a Revit project with multiple linked models sharing identical material names (e.g., “Concrete_01”). While I’ve overridden materials in Revit to align with the host, D5 treats materials in each linked model as separate instances. This means using the Color Picker requires manually targeting each linked model, even for the same material.

Is there a way to make the Color Picker apply materials globally across all linked models sharing the same material name? For example, picking “Concrete_01” in one link would update all instances of “Concrete_01” in all links.

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, for now, D5 detects these materials as separate because they both belong in a different file. I think this is a feature that we have yet to support. Thank you for your understanding.

Hi there,

Thanks so much for clarifying this, really hoping that this feature can get implemented as it takes a lot of time transferring materials to different links on bigger projects with multiple Revit links.

Hi @shaunwillemse1411

I have forwarded your suggestions and input to our team. Thank you~
