Refraction artifacts when precipitation (rain) enabled

I’m getting strange bands of refraction artifacts on glass when I have precipitation enabled. I do not believe it is a geometry problem. The artifacts move around and appear and disappear on various glass surfaces. The glass has a thickness (~6mm). It seems to be a result of the rain droplets on the glass.

There are a few things that will make the artifacts disappear:

  • Disabling precipitation.
  • Setting precipitation Strength to 1. I have Strength set to 0. I only want puddles.
  • Setting glass IOR to 1.
  • Setting Rain/Snow slider to mostly snow. Once there is no rain the artifacts disappear.

Hi! Thanks for reporting this issue.
I suggest you can send your scene file to us for check. You can share a link here or send your file to our email. (support@d5techs.com, please describe the problem and attach the link of this post to your mail)

Thank you for your email. I checked your scene file and found that this may be a bug. we are trying to fix it.
I noticed that enabling the Thickness option for the glass material seems to work around the issue. You can use this method to correct your problem for the time being.
I will update you on the progress if the issue is fixed later.
