Hello,
I am using the newest D5 version (2.7.1.0465)
I have problems with the rectangular lights. The light sources seem to be bright in the center but the light intensity then decreases at the edges. The longer the light, the darker the corners.
Image A:
The ceiling should be evenly lit. I have placed a long, rectangular light. The light only shines in the middle. The other areas are not illuminated. I think the length of a rectangular light is limited.
Image B:
I have created many small, connected lights. But there are these dark stripes (red marking) and bright spots in the middle (green marking). Overlapping the lights does not help.
Image C:
I have placed a stripe light on the base. It is not extremely long. Nevertheless, the light in the middle seems to be significantly brighter than at the corners.
Additionally, the rectangular light also seems to have problems with reflection. I have already reported this here:

u should try emesive material on the surface that you put the light
Hello. If you want to get an even light, it is recommended to turn up the Barn Door Length parameter, while setting the Barn Door Angle to 0 and turning down the Attenuation Intensity parameter.
This works both for rect light and strip light.
Thank you, i had the sam idea too. Have to test it.
Thank you LunaLang, I will use the parameters you suggest.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work that well. Adjusting the settings that LunaLang suggested doesn’t change anything in my case. I still have the dark stripes and spot in the middle.
An area with emissive material works better but unfortunately the light doesn’t decrease. There is no way to set the attenuation radius here. This makes the light on the floor much too bright.
That’s why I have two suggestions for improvement:
-
Rectangular light and strip light seem to be limited to lengths of around 8000. (see picture). Please adjust the light so that longer ones also work.
-
Emissive material should also have an attenuation radius like light sources.
Thanks and regards
Hello. The length of the light is possible to adjust to more than 8000. You can turn up the value of Attenuation Radius, which will help the edges of your light to stay as bright as the centre as well.
Oh, yes! Thank you LunaLang.
Would still be nice to have the attenuation radius in emissive material.
