I’m anticipating needing a VR headset for walkthroughs.
Am looking for recommendations from anyone who already does this.
thanks

David,
Do you have a Teams Account to do virtual walkthroughs? Or do you have a Pro account?
If you do have a teams account, the thing you might want to look into is finding a headset that can utilize website based virtual walkthroughs. My firm purchased a HTC Vive Pro 2 because of the visual quality. But because it utilizes older hardware, it has difficulty using website based walkthroughs. Supposedly, you can also export the walkthrough as a local file. But unfortunately I don’t have experience with this.
If you have a Pro account, there are two methods you can utilize for VR. One is to use the VR preview in D5 Render. This can be difficult to utilize as you have to have a high spec computer for it work okay and even then you can still experience issues. My firm has a spec’d out computer with a 4090 and it still has issues. However, if you have a small structure with limited lighting, it should work okay. The alternate method is to render out panoramas and utilize them essentially as a slide show. It’s not as immersive as being able to walk around where you want, however, it removes the high hardware requirements and allows for a less buggy experience.
I know that doesn’t make things extraordinarily clear. Unfortunately, when it comes to VR for architecture, it’s a very complicated issue.
Thanks for the extended writeup. Seems like the resolution of the headsets are an issue - even with a 4090.
cheers,
