Hi, I’ve been using D5 for much time, since the initials releases and I always have a bad performance. But lately, this is not working. I totally changed my workflow from other render software to D5 Render because I was expecting a huge improvement in the stability, the performance of the environment and the time saving.
But it hasn’t happened, at all. With my last scene, imported from a Sketchup model to 3dsmax and then moved to D5, I have terrible performance with My Pc, even using in a very low quality view and hiding the vegetation.
The tool become slaggy, slow and paintfull to work with, every camera move is like waiting to response… It’s not like a professional tool at all. I think my set-up, it’s not the problem. And the worst are the render times, for example 10 seconds of video in 2K takes around 40 minutes. I’ve attached some screenshots of my set-up, the use of the computer while it’s rendering a video (the use of GPU or CPU is very low) and the performance after the render of video.
And the last thing, after the first video render, I create another video render, then press render and… crashed. Really? For a professional software which cost 38$ / month?
I have to finish this project in this software, but after of many years of “improvements” I can see that it has the same issues as two years ago with the first releases.
The solution back then was trying to use the software in window mode, not full screen… If this is going to be the solution… then I’ll just be giving up with D5 render.
We feel your frustration about this issue has caused you, and we sincerely apologize for that. What D5 version you are currently using? Does this happen for one specific file or all of your files?
Could you send me the following information to help me better understand the problem? The attached images are for your reference.
Note: This information should be taken while you’re running your D5 file that has an issue.
Another thing you can do is activate the statistics feature. This is to monitor your VRAM usage in reel time. Once it goes over 90%, it will cause many irregularities, e.g., lagging, freezing, slow rendering, and even crashing D5.
I will be waiting for your response, and again, I apologize for the trouble.
I’m using the latest version because I’m a PRO user. It’s something that happened to me for so much time, slopy and laggy performance when I start to add vegetation or grass. If I close the program and start again I can work better, but after a few minutes of working or just for a while, everything becomes slow, dense, and hard to work.
In my third image, you can see the statistics about the computer and performance. Yesterday, after a video render, the software was running at 5 fps, that is a NIGHTMARE in terms of performance. And I know I don’t have the most powerful PC in the earth, but really? With my processor and GPU, other 3D software is faster.
I’ll send you the images of the GPU and the RAM later.
And this is the last chance for D5 for me. Taking almost 1h for rendering 10 seconds at 2K video… or being almost impossible of working after putting some trees and bushes in a tiny scene…
Sorry for the trouble. This problem may be caused by the workflow of importing a model from Sketchup to 3dsMax.
How is the performance when you use D5’s demo scenes?
If the performance is fine using demo scenes, can you send us the Max model file for further testing in our environment? (support@d5techs.com, please attach a link to this post in the email)
Hello, here are the screenshoot that you asked for, and if I reduce the size of the window, like some years ago, the performance is increased. It can’t be the same solution because I in this time I’ve changed the graphics card, the CPU and even the amount of RAM.
And this is the WORST part so far. Spending at least 10 minutes with a huge lagging my whole PC (mouse cursor, keyboard, etc) the percentage still at 0% but look the CPU, GPU o RAM… WTF! They don’t reach 30% of usage, and still after the render “begins” the PC is almost with micro freezing for microseconds.
That amount of problems just for the GRam? I can’t use D5 Render with a RTX 3070 and some trees and bushes?
And again, during the whole render, the GPU don’t reach the 40%
Apologies that this is happening to you. Could you please share your 3dsmax file + d5 files for testing and thorough investigation. Kindly send it to support@d5techs.com and mention this issue link (Forum). Lastly, tag me @maslu, your technical support, for easy tracking.
