Quirky SU Sync

I just replaced a Sketchup model with another model with “replace from local” and I lose all sync from Sketchup. This includes losing any and all updates from scenes, materials, moving/editing objects in Sketchup. This is with D5 Sync for Sketchup and it would also happen with version 2.5. This is not an OS issue. When a synced model is replaced with a different one it should update the D5 model the same as with an xref in Autocad. The sync status bar shows that it’s updating but nothing happens in D5.

Hi gusrobatto
A couple of days ago one of the team started downloading the synchronization files (D5_Converter_SketchUp_usa_0.8.5.0001) if you have installed this it is a problem if not try this one I indicated to you.

That’s the version I installed. I tried this with a different model and it was working fine. Is there a conflict with a particular SU model and sync? Could it be components in SU messing things up?

If you did a test, with another object you have no problems, it must be the object that messes up the sync
When the object is MB large and how many faces it has, try to make it smaller. If you downloaded the object from a site and it is a format other than SKP, try the transmutr program which may be able to make it easier.

Converting the SU model with Transmutr would defeat the purpose of SU Sync. The skp that works is 44 mb and larger than the 10.5 mb skp that doesn’t work in sync. I tried deleting tags and scenes and that didn’t do it.

Could it be a matter of the number of components? The smaller model that isn’t working right in sync has 2,932 components and the larger one has 1,528 components. A lot of these in the former are generated with Flex Tools for windows and doors. This isn’t a particularly large model.

Then there is something that prevents the sync operation, surely you know this, then you have to cut to the chase, you have to put something different as an object, you have to take it from the library, or load the object as a library and place it where you need it.
So you will continue to work, come on, come on, Merry Christmas

It works with Live Sync.

Great, good luck

The SU convertor is buggy and I just got a CTD with Live Sync. Part of the D5_Immerse log file:

LogPakFile: Stored Index Hash: 67950EACDEC8C489EF557A0ACAF269202D97CAE3

LogPakFile: Display: Mounting pak file …/…/…/d5_immerse/Content/Paks/ls/37/1.pak.

Then to continue working, use an older version, if you have it. Or regarding the Sync plugin you have, I would do another installation, but I would disable antivirus, for loading, this is the last thing that comes to mind. If this doesn’t work too I would wait for someone from the team to give you a hand. As a colleague, I was trying to overcome the obstacle, but what I said previously was not successful, I’m sorry. :smiling_face_with_tear:

As a paid subscriber I’m paying $456 a year for this software and in consideration that my hardware and OS meet the requirements of D5 I think it’s a little perplexing to suggest that I downgrade to version 2.5 especially in consideration that D5 has been crashing for other users of this software. I’ve sent the zip log to tech and the only thing they requested is to do remote adjustments to my computer which is rather unusual in order to run software. The dmp file debug showed a fault with D5_immerse and the above shows a fault with a corrupt pak index file.

I know this is the first time you’ve seen all of this with my experience since the upgrade but it’s been rather time consuming. I suppose that’s my fault for going down the rabbit hole of troubleshooting. D5 corporate tech needs to take a more serious look at the crashes that have been reported.

I’m sorry about what happened to you, but I have to say one thing, you may not agree. My user experience of more than 2 years, together with the D5 and the Team, who have always been available, starting as a non-PRO D5 1.3 user, I saw great potential in this program, compared to other rendering engines. Easy to learn, fast and of excellent quality. Surely during various updates I too had various problems, either blocking or something not working, but I still managed to work, although later with the team I solved the problems that occurred and then went away. This is a new company, which gives the opportunity to work for free with this program, ‘which no one does’. But if someone looks at what happens to this program in the forum, he is not convinced to switch to PRO, no one is forcing him. You will have had your reasons for switching to the full D5 formula.
Best wishes again and Merry Christmas
