Question about transfering files to another pc

Good morning

I have a question: I had to work from home for two weeks on a new office project, and all the D5 files are on my desktop. If I simply copy the folder to an external hard drive and transfer it to the company computer, will the file have any problems, such as loss of textures from the objects imported in SKP? Or will I just need to sync the Max file again?

Hi, @NOG_the_DOG You can safely transfer your D5 project folder via an external hard drive without losing textures from SketchUp (SKP) objects.

Locate your current D5 workspace:

  • Since the current date is 2026-05-06, and D5 v2.11+ has been standard for years, use the D5 Launcher method:
  • Open D5 Launcher → Settings → Workspace to find the current storage path.
Copy the entire workspace folder (including .d5 project files and all embedded assets) to your external hard drive.
    On the company computer:
  • Ensure D5 Render is installed.
  • Open D5 Launcher → Settings → Workspace and set the path to the copied folder.
  • Restart D5 Render.
