This is my first time using D5 and I’m very keen to learn so I can leave Enscape behind, but I’m really struggling to get anything remotely realistic looking. I know using an HDRi is the best option, but I need to create videos showing accurate solar paths as part of my garden designs so they’re not an option - the lighting in my model is not good at all, but I don’t know how to correct it.
Hi! Thank you for your willingness to try D5. Regarding the effects of rendering and how to get more realistic lighting, I recommend you to visit our official tutorials on YouTube. D5 Render - YouTube
hi, its great that ur keen to learn. and want improve ur self. first u have to understand what create realism in 3d view. reflection / shadow / lighting and real world material. study other artist work, see how they followed above points in there work. and practise makes perfect. all the best.
My quick tip
Spotlight like you have in the picture may be correct in reality. Therefore work with Rect Ligth or Point light (D5) which in reality does not exist at all. Your picture has strong light contrasts and too many dark areas. Try using Rect Ligth to illuminate objects from above, below and from the side, even if it’s not normal. Try it. You can still delete if there is too much light.
Greetings to an ex-Enscape (2018) who is excited about D5 and will never go back.
I also need to work out how to do timelapse videos with accurate solar transition, that’s easy in Enscape because I geolocate my sketchup model and set time/date using sketchup scenes, but that doesn’t work in D5 - any tips?
