Please criticize my rendered spaces on D5.

Hi, it’s my first time on using the D5 software. Can you tell me what can i improve?

This is already quite good for your first time using D5.
But you should check the color cast in your images. Right now, some of them have strong color casts—some scenes are too yellow, while others are too purple—so you need to balance the colors a bit. Also, the lighting is too even. Additionally, try to depict the material properties more clearly, ensuring the glossiness and reflections are accurate to reality—avoid making them too dark.

what do you mean by the lighting was too even?

Normally, light comes from multiple directions, with a key light and fill light to create depth in the scene. In darker scenes, the outside view through the window shouldn’t be completely black—there should still be some ambient light, such as moonlight or city lights, influencing the scene. This means that even in nighttime interior scenes, external lighting plays a role.

Additionally, indoor lighting should have emphasis in certain areas, with lights affecting specific surfaces rather than covering large areas too evenly. If the lighting is too uniform, it can result in unappealing shadows and fail to highlight the material properties effectively. The key is to focus on necessary areas, ensuring a good balance of key and fill lighting.

Hi @22-01854

Aside from the technicalities that were pointed out by one of our Forum Legends @NgTrung , I think composition also has a huge role in producing an effective Rendering. Effectively placing D5 Entourage objects will surely boost the overall feel of these images. You can browse our D5 Render Gallery or Scene Express to peek at the work of others and how they effectively incorporated the different elements.

Additionally, I suggest following the Rule of Thirds, it is a common yet effective photography rule as it may help you improve on camera angles and the arrangement of the assets in your D5 Preview Window.

thank you, i’ll look into that and apply what you’ve just said. :)) I was also wondering why some of my shadows are like that, like it has no directions if you know what i mean. I want the objects to project the shadow sharp, something like that.

i’ll do that. I still dont know what rule of third is but i’ll try to learn it. Thank you! :)))
