There is a problem with vehicles and people now following a path along the sloped roads when exporting videos. The Drop toggle is set for all paths and they work in preview, but when rendering out animations it turns out wrong (flying above surfaces or cutting through them). I have tried exporting as a video and as an image sequence but got the same result. I’ve even added an additional frame at the beginning of the clips in hopes that D5 will use that frame to readjusts itself (as it does in preview) and than render the rest correctly, but that didn’t give a better result either.
Has anyone had the same issue and is there a way to fix it?
(Sorry i can’t share the clips, it’s not my project, i’m just trying to help a friend.)
hi, there is scope to improve path tool animation for vehicles and peoples. i have also gave some suggestions to D5 team. lets see when they improve those.
Hi there,
I apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Can you please specify which assets were used? I tried to recreate the issue using vehicles but it seems that the Drop feature is working fine on my end. I have attached a video recording: Unique Download Link | WeTransfer
Thank you.
If you take a look at the video linked bellow you will see issues with the car path, such as cars flying and cars jerking at some control points. (In some parts they go bellow the road as well but it’s not visible in this shot.) | Unique Download Link | WeTransfer
Hi there @stwodio.rs
Thank you for sharing this video recording. The glitching and inconsistent movements are certainly not within expectation. Would it be possible to send us this file? You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled “Clov-Forum Path on Sloped Terrain”.
Sorry, it is not my project. I cannot share the file.
Hi @stwodio.rs
I understand. Our team just confirmed that we currently have a known issue involving vehicle paths. Vehicle turns/effects can be unnatural when the vehicle path is at a right angle; please try to adjust the path and see if the issue persists. Thank you.
All control points for the path have been set to “Round” and have been adjusted to allow for smooth turns by the vehicles (as sharper angles make the vehicles “drift” in corners). And in live preview they work fine for the most part, but when animation is rendering things get crazy.
On a somewhat related note, it would be very nice if there was an option for path control points to have an “Auto adjust speed” toggle, making the vehicles essentially slow down for tight corners and speed back up on straight paths. The speed would somehow be influenced by the angle of the curve along a path section. Not sure if this is possible, but i think it’s worth looking into.
And thank you for looking into this matter. I appreciate it.
Hi @stwodio.rs
I will be forwarding this suggestion further to my team to ensure that our vehicle path option will surely be optimized as soon as possible. Thank you~
