I have been using D5 for a year, today I noticed that whenever I opened a particular project, D5 would crash as soon as the project was loaded. I tried to collect logs and noticed this issue that I think might be causing the crash.
In the Support tool, my NVIDIA RTX 4070 Graphics card isn’t detected, and I think it’s relying on the internal AMD Graphic Card. The VRAM is also shown to be 1 GB instead of the 12 GB that my main card has.
How can I fix this? Please provide some solution as it is an urgent situation.
EDIT: Upon checking the GPU Performance in Task Manager, the project is getting loaded in the NVIDIA GPU’s memory correctly. But as soon as it hits the 4GB (out of 12GB) mark, it crashes. Other, heavier projects are getting opened without crashing.
It seems that D5 didn’t detect your NVIDIA graphics card. Please try to disable the AMD graphics card in ‘Device Manager’ and restart the PC to check the results.
Thanks for your response, I’m using D5 2.8.0.0471. This is how I can open the project now: By loading another heavy project and then opening the particular one such that the GPU memory usage doesn’t become 0 and picks up from 4-5 GB instead. But this seems like a short-term solution.
I think the problem might not be that D5 doesn’t detect my NVIDIA GPU (It is already using it as seen in the task manager). It might have something to do with how memory is being allocated to the project (It contains a lot of assets and uses almost 94% VRAM).
Please look into it and let me know how to fix it.
