Model imports as one chunk — material applies to whole object (can’t separate). What should I do?

When I import/sync from SketchUp, the entire model arrives in D5 as a single object. Any material I apply affects the whole model, and my SketchUp “Explode”/separate groups don’t carry over.

What are the correct import/Live Sync settings to keep the hierarchy (and avoid “merge by material”)? If it’s already in D5 as one chunk, is there a way to “Uncombine/Separate” it inside D5? Any step-by-step guidance would be appreciated.

Hi @Zara

Surfaces that are meant to have different materials should be differentiated in SketchUp first; for instance, walls should be different from the ceiling material.

  • If you prefer your model’s object to be retained, you can use this option in our SKP Plug-in.
