Mirror flickering (and partial solution)

Specs: D5Ver2.3 / RTX3080Ti / NVIDIA 526.98 St.Driver / 128GBRam

Hi everybody!

I’m working on this video for a client but I’m having a recurring problem on mirrors: All of them are flickering like crazy. The most severe case is this:

After checking different settings (turned off LOD, Super Sampling, checking for mesh coherence, checking for lights intensity) just found if I keep Metalness value below 0.95 on mirror material (no other parameter I checked besides metalness has effect on this) the flickering is gone:

However, a new problem is created: Reflected light beams (some of them) get severely cut by half of the wall and all reflected light bounces are gone too. I’ve changed several settings on lights without success. Does anyone kwows how to solve this?

Thanks in advance!

hello.
a similar problem happens (in all render engines) when you have two spuerfici of different material very close together. did you see if your mirror has enough space with the back panel?

Hello, yeah, you can try paperless’s suggestion to check whether the surfaces are double-sided.
Also, it is a known issue and currently we have to adjust the Metallic value. We will fix it in future.
By the way, have you also tried the mirror material from D5 Library?

You can give them a try if having not tried them.

Thanks for the advice guys, I really appreciate it, but haven’t got any luck. I checked for double side faces, made the mirror thicker and applied the D5 mirror material. Nothing works. I even placed a D5 3D Asset (lighted mirror) checking if the problem is mesh related, but the result is the same:

Anyway, we’ll wait for that fix on future updates, D5 is an amazing tool.
Thanks!

Ok mate, you are welcome, could you show me the parameters of the mirror, or send the scene file to support@d5techs.com? We will check whether this is fixed in 2.4, thx~
