MergeTool.exe

Hi,

everytime I start my computer , I got this to pop-up

should I install it ? the path seems a bit weird
is that from the last update ?
could be a virus ?

thx

Hi @alek.gilot

This prompt usually appears because D5 Render is attempting to install or update the Merge Tool, which requires administrator permission to copy or replace its executable files.

To help us better understand your situation:

  • If this is a company-managed laptop, please contact your IT administrator to approve the installation or grant temporary administrator access.
  • If this is your personal computer but you’re signed in with a standard (non-administrator) Windows account, you’ll need to sign in with an administrator account or ask the administrator to enter their credentials.

Based on the screenshot, this behavior is expected when Windows prevents an application from making changes without administrator approval. This is especially common on company-managed devices or systems with User Account Control (UAC) enabled.

Just to be sure, please confirm the following:

  • Which version of D5 Render are you currently using?
  • Did this behavior start after updating D5 Render or D5 Lite?
  • Does this prompt appear every time you launch the Merge Tool, or only the first time?
  • Does the prompt appear immediately after you click Merge Tool, or does it occur at another point during the process?
