Materials rendering different colour than preview

Hello,

While I’m working on my scenes I have a brown coloured dirt pathway, however, when I render the image it’s coming out silver/grey for some reason.

Is there a setting I might be missing for this to remain the same colour before rendering?

Thanks for your help!!

Hi @jake1

  • May I know your System Information?
  • If you’re using 576.02 Drivers, can you please try to revert back to 572.47
  • This only occurs to this specific file?

Hi @jake1

The Driver version you’re using 7602 is equivalent to 576.02, please revert make to 572.47. It is currently a known issue with 576.02, and it is best to avoid the driver version for now. Thank you.

I installed the 572.47 driver (I could only find the game ready version), but unfortunately this didn’t help. It’s still changing colours when I press render.

Hi @jake1

You didn’t activate “Smooth” Mode, right?

No, “smooth” mode is not on. Once I either hit “render” or “accumulate F4” the pathway goes almost white. The material is “Road Surface 29” from the D5 library. I’ve tried a few other materials, but it seems to happen no matter what I use on this pathway.

It’s almost like the material is losing its base color map when rendering.

Alright. Can you send us your D5 Render file and log file?

Files were sent yesterday as noted.

Hi @jake1

Please send the entire folder of your project. If only the .drs file is sent, we are unable to open it, which may cause some issues. I apologize, I wasn’t able to mention it beforehand.

Sent the folder through WeTransfer since it was so large.

Hi @jake1

I just tested your file. It seems that this particular issue persists because of Path Tracing, and it is only affecting the specific Material Road Surface 29

It seems like there is something wrong with how Road Surface 29 is calculated with Path Tracing enabled on this particular file (replicating it in a demo file does not yield the same result). We will be investigating this issue.

For now, the workaround:

  • Replace Road Surface 29 Material.
  • Or disable Path Tracing temporarily.

Okay thank you! I disabled Ray Tracing and it works now.
