Main model moved off it's spot in a massive project

Hello everyone,
I have been working on a project for over a month now.
Just a couple of minutes ago I found out my characters are not visible and suddenly realized that my main model and all models I placed in are not in the correct spot anymore!

it is bizarre how it happened as the main SKP file in D5 was locked.
the situation is like this:

  1. when I click on scenes that I set in D5 it takes me to where the characters and placed model from the library are in the correct place and the building itself is far from its spot.

  2. However, when I click the scenes from SketchUp it takes me to the correct building spot but all the elements are missing (1 and 2 are for reference in case there can be a solution)

now what can I do exactly
my deadline is very close and I am getting super nervous.
I need to set it exactly where it was(pinpoint accuracy needed)

it used to be like this before movements
what happened there really?

Update:

I moved the model manually to the closest possible, for now I am ok
BUT ! there must be some features to stop this from happening, like locking the scene or sth like that.
Note that I did lock the model but it did move anyway(I tried playing around with XYZ numbers when model was locked and it did move anyway!)

Hello. Did you sync your model with the plugin or did you import it directly into D5? It’s possible that your model moved because the overall scope of the model changed. You can refer to this post for the exact reasons and solutions. Why do models become displaced after replacement/update? | User Manual (d5render.com)

its kinda stupid thing actually…the first time u import the model…u cannot extend the model more than the first region…if not the sync coordinate will be different from the first one…that what i found when it happen to me…

We need a way to specify a base point for location sync between new models. Today I resynced a model by copying in the updated model to the existing file and it still moved and i had to manually adjust its position.

For now, this can be solved with the Live Sync plugin, or by clicking Sync Coordinates after importing the model.

well, I always use LiveSync. but I also think we need some base point and some locking elements to hold everything in place.
(out of topic: )This even is needed in scenes. as I sometimes mistakenly click on update and all my previous setup will be gone and do not know how to revert.

just close it do not save…open it again…if not u can check out at file>view version history

Hello. Are you currently using the Live Sync plugin, but the model is still misaligned? I suggest you to send us your su model and we will check what is causing your problem. Also, please let me know the version number of the plugin you are currently using.
You can share a link here or send your model to our email. (support@d5techs.com, please describe the problem and attach the link of this post to your mail)

thank you Luna for your response,
actually I managed to set the model in the old spot manually and shoot the animations, and moved on.
I let you know if it happens on other projects.

Thank you very much for your reply. If you experience this problem again, you can send us the model. Or, if you have time afterwards, you can test if this problem happens again with a simple model.

Oh god, it happened again.

Luckily I did not have so much work done at the moment so I could close and not save and the model got back its spot.

I am sure I was not doing anything related to the main model

I was adjusting these edges to match the sink in SU and suddenly when I updated the model it was moved way off (+50 feet) like a building away!

unfortunately, I did not have the chance to get sth out of it to send here

now I am looking for the coordinate button to set the model in place but cannot find it(does this button lock the model in place?)

Hello. You can unlock the object in the object list on the left side and then you will be able to see its location information on the right side.

Is this problem currently happening randomly? I notice you seem to have encountered this issue in two different scenes already?

Yeah, I am working on a different model and this one is a unit interior and I do not have any D5 asset for reference in the model, so if it moves again I will be in trouble.

I remember you referred to some locking the model in place (coordinate?) option, am I right? Is there such an option in D5?

And in general, what would be the reason? I am almost sure that the model in D5 has not moved since I was working in SU, and 100% sure the SU model is still in place.

Better to find the reason I believe.

Oh my god! I cannot handle this anymore!

super weirdly the whole D5 assets are not in place anymore. Here is what is going on:

I noticed that D5 is not updating the model anymore so I saved/closed the software and restarted it.

Now I cannot see any assets and found out that all objects I placed from the D5 model library are somewhere else,
Now to check what the issue is, when I click a scene in D5 it takes me to where the assets are now, however by clicking on the same scene in SketchUp it takes me to where the real model is set(which should be correct, only if assets where still there) I’ll send some image or video in next post.

Here is a video uploaded to DropBox

As you can see in the video, when I click from SU set is correct but assets are missing(moved to somewhere else)
When clicking the same scene from D5, it shows another place where the assets are now(no clue why they are moved there at all! just was working on them) and the model is not there.

So annoying and right now I am stuck very badly. If it was the model I may be able to move it and set it anyway but now with lots of assets not on their spot… do not know what to do.

UPDATE:

I noticed that if I move the Skp file imported to D5, inside the D5 client, SU does not care and when I click on a scene from SU it still moves to correct spot related to the imported model. In this case I tried moving model in D5 and clicked on same scene in SU and it sets the correct scene again, so I can assume that this caused because of imported SKP file is moved. However, what I do not understand is HOW? how the skp model is moved in D5 to a random spot with difference in all 3 axis and so much way off, that I can be sure that it is not moved by mistake or missclicks.

I set the model to a close to original place again but this cannot happen every time.

I really need to find a reason for that…

btw I did lock the skp object in D5 so I assume it has to be locked in place which I think I am mistaken about that, it moves !

Hello. I am very, very sorry for your problem.

This post explains the difference between locked and unlocked.
What is the difference between locking and unlocking models in the object list? | User Manual (d5render.com)

Locking the model should not solve the offset problem at this time.
For the live sync plugin, you can click sync pivot after the first sync. so that your origin in D5 will always be the same as in SU.
If this doesn’t work, please contact me. Maybe I can check out your problem via remote support.
By the way, your video doesn’t seem to be uploading successfully.

Good day I’m a computer technician, I have a Client that has been working with D5 and he loves this application. Recently we experienced an issue similar to this in Revit; where when he load and sync the project from Revit to D5 using D5 live sync. All the foliage and assets that he added on D5 appear on different coordinates, due to this is got complex to center all the objects to the correct coordinates. I’ve found that on the D5 tab in Revit, go to settings and activate “Use Survey point” and that solved the issue.
Hope this helps for any person that experience this problem.
