It seems like vertical surfaces don’t receive bounce light, or at least receive very little bounce light. In the attached images the wood on the soffit and the wall is the same, yet the wall looks abnormally dark. It’s driving me and my clients nuts. I’ve double checked the geometry to make sure it doesn’t have weird normals. I’ve tried jacking up the Local Exposure for Highlights and Shadows, which helps a little but not enough. And it’s not just this one wall. It happens with pretty much any vertical surface in shadow. Even the shadow on the concrete is very dark. Adjusting the exposure just blows everything else out.
