Laptop VR Specification

Hello,

I am thinking of ordering a laptop for VR

Intel Core i9-13900H
Nvidia 4070
16gb ddr4 ram (I will updgrade this)

Is this fast enough for d5 VR? Should I be looking at a 4080?

Thanks

Phil

Hi @corkey

An RTX 4070 is generally sufficient for D5 Render VR. However, as with any application, a more powerful GPU will yield enhanced performance.

Have you had the opportunity to test VR functionality previously? If so, did it operate smoothly? It’s important to note that certain VR devices may experience compatibility issues, even with high-end GPUs, as our VR optimization is ongoing. We recommend considering these potential limitations.

Hello. No unfortunately I haven’t had any experience with it. I ordered a Pico 4 Ultra which isn’t working with D5. I will try and send it back and get a quest 3.

Thanks

Hi clovisbolasco14

I have had a complete nightmare with VR. I first tried the Pico4 Ultimate, then the quest 3 and finally the playstation VR before realising the problem was my amd 9070xt, or at least that’s what I think. I tried the VR on my 4080 laptop with the Playstion VR and it seemed to work ok.

Here is a screenshot of what I see when I load VR on my AMD 9070 PC

The VR loading time is also terrible when using the 9070xt

Kind Regards,

Corkey

Hi @corkey

I apologize for the inconvenience. Can you check whether your 9070XT PC is utilizing your dedicated GPU instead of the integrated GPU? You may check it by opening the Task Manager > Performance while opening this particular D5 Render File.

Additionally, can you open a D5 Render File normally (if VR is not being used) with this device?

  • You may also want to try to revert to 2.9 Version and see if this resolves the issue.

This is my screenshot. It doesn’t look like it is. I will try downgrading the software

Thanks

Hi @corkey

  • Can you also share to us the Graphics Card Driver version? Are you perhaps using 2025.3.1?

  • other than using VR, does D5 function normally on use?

HI @Clov

I am using 25.3.2

Other than occasional long load times it is working fine.
