Join materials in D5 render

Hello!

Is it possible to join materials in D5 render for objects that are joined, but seperated in modelling software?

What would be a workaround if that is not possible?
Should I then change the materials in Arhicad for this objects, so that I can adjust them later in D5 render on the right position?

Hi tjasa, I do this now using Archicad, you know that the surfaces I create can be moved based on the texture and its size, based on this if you select the facade with the white cursor, or just press the uppercase control button select a part of the shape, then just open the drop-down menu in Documents and then Creative Representation and then Align Texture, in that case you will find a point to start the texture or rotate it, as you want. At this point in D5 all you have to do is set the material settings, and you can also obtain the PBRs with artificial intelligence, located at the top right. This way you solve it. :grinning: :grinning: :grinning:

Hi!

Your method works great. I align the textures in archicad and import in D5:

But, when I change any texture in D5 the textures move back to origin position, which is not correct:

I think best would be I connect all joined objects in archicad (which might be a bit hard) or I actually make a different material for each part of the wall, so that I can then move this texture in D5 render.
What do you think? Or is there any easier way?

Hi, the method is always the one in Archicad, I always work in the 3D graphic with everything, I also create surfaces, then I store them from the jobs I do if I have to restore them, for each job I make a texture folder giving a name and reference. These are the tricks of the trade ‘with many years of experience’, you need to have a good organization on your PC, you know where to look when necessary. It’s a question of memory and organization, then when you have a new job it’s easy and quick to work. After the work is finished, I check it in 3d, then finally move to D5, setting the materials that you know how to have that effect. I always use D5 for rendering, because it is a rendering program, both to obtain realistic images, but also to optimize textures in PBR, which now does it with artificial intelligence, because before I did it with another little program. This feature has made my life easier.
As you progress with experience you will find a way to be even better, if you have an idea of how to organize yourself and experiment with other methods, do it, do it, don’t doubt your ideas, if it works, it works, if it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work. So don’t wait for others to tell you, you have to act instinctively, that’s how it is in this field.
I wish you good things Riccardo
