Issue with FBX import from Maya -Model not visible in D5 Render

hello team.

I have been using D5 Render for some time now. It has been a fantastic tool in my workflow, especially when importing FBX files from Autodesk Maya—until recently.

Over the past 3 days, I’ve encountered a recurring issue: after exporting a model from Maya in FBX format and importing it into D5 Render, the model no longer appears in the scene. Only the built-in D5 assets are visible. This is quite unusual, as the same workflow was functioning perfectly before.

I’ve double-checked my export settings and even tried different files and tried re-installing the software, but the issue persists. I’d greatly appreciate your support in resolving this problem.

Looking forward to your assistance.

Best regards,
Suraj G

Hi @greymeshstudio

I would like to ask if you’re workflow involves putting these files in a cloud storage? Or perhaps they are stored in Google Drive, OneDrive, etc. If so, we recommend downloading it locally first, then proceeding to work with it.

Hi Clov,

Thank you for your reply.

I usually keep the ongoing projects on the desktop and once done, move it to other drive.
tried the reloading option and replace from local but still doesn’t show the imported model. I set the whole model and had to edit the design. so worked on maya, exported the model to FBX and then tried importing it back to D5. the only models seen are the ones integrated with the d5.

Attaching both before and after importing screenshots for you reference.

Thank you

Hi @greymeshstudio

Just to clarify, you were able to place the FBX and D5 files in the local path, right? If so, and the image you have sent is still the situation:

  • Please send us your D5 Render file and the FBX file. We would like to try it on our end and see if we can have the FBX file reappear. Please zip these files first and send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled Clov-Forum Issue with FBX Import not visible in D5 Render

I usually keep the ongoing projects on the desktop and once done, move them to other drive.

  • If this is your usual workflow, then it might be best to have the D5 Folder of your file and the fbx model placed in one folder, then zipped.
