I can't use custom models in Scatter and Tools

Recently, I decided to add my purchased models to D5, I set up their textures, set the dimensions for 3D models, and added some of them to the local program library. I got several different models of grass, I wanted to spread it around the scene and was surprised that I can’t use local models, the program only allows individual positioning manually. I can’t add my own models to Brush, or to Scatter. Okay, I would make small scenes where you need a few trees, but I make visualizations for parks where you need to arrange hundreds of trees.

I am sure that many people have accumulated a lot of models over the years that they would like to use in other projects in the D5 program, but now we have the fact that there is no possibility of mass placement of local models.

I asked around with my colleagues who also use D5 in their work and no one makes custom local libraries because it is impossible to add such models to Brush or to Scatter. I initially thought that this was a program error, but I’m not the only one who has this error. I really ask the developers of D5 render to make it possible to use local models in more ways than manually distributing them across the scene.

Hi there. I apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused. We have yet to implement such a feature: using the brush, scatter, and path tool for an imported model file. For now, these features are only applied for D5 Render Assets; perhaps we will support them in a subsequent release.

Additionally, if our vegetation asset library does not have what you were looking for, can you tell us which specific species or plants you were looking for or using?

Thank you.

In my projects, I use a large number of coniferous plants, including their various varieties. In D5 render, I really miss realistic junipers, especially sprawling shrubs, or creeping shapes. There are not enough weeping forms of coniferous trees, for example, such as the common inversa spruce. I also use thuja of all possible varieties, many of which are not in D5. According to my feelings, I can say that about 200 positions of coniferous plants are missing.
It is also annoying that plants, especially lawn grass, if it is scattered over the surface, it will climb beyond the plane. This spoils the renderings and because of this, you have to manually edit such places. I believe that now models are guided by gizmo when they reach the edge of any plane, and this prevents them from easily doing many actions with a massive spread of models.

Moving away from the topic of plants, there are many other disadvantages in D5.
There are no standard street lighting presets, although this is extremely important, especially for beginners. You can’t imagine how many times I’ve seen renderings with good detail and just disgusting light. By the way, neurocorrection of light, following the example of an image, does not correct this situation, this correction is still very weak. I have heard several times about the reluctance to switch to D5 due to the poor quality of the render, while I was shown exactly exterior renderings with terrible overexposure and the departure of shades to blue. I’ve been studying the basics of photography for a long time and all these white balance or exposure settings are very clear to me, but many people go into D5, get scared of the many light settings and decide just not to adjust anything, leaving the picture in the worst possible way.
A separate setting for the sky in HDRI maps would really help me, so that I can make the sky darker or lighter without affecting the rest of the scene. I can recall recently that I set up the lighting in the scene perfectly, but the sky remained without details, although the HDRI map had a really good sky. I also remembered that downloadable HDRI cards, no matter what quality they are, still turn into pixel porridge and I rummaged through all the settings, thinking that the D5 shows me a simplified image. I downloaded both 4k and 8k formats - this still has no effect on the quality of the HDRI card displayed in the scene. Moreover, I checked the same maps in Corona render and they are displayed correctly there.
They often ask me to show my pet in renderings, most often they are pomeranians, shepherds, or poodles. Now I’m adding these breeds in Photoshop.
Well, to be honest, I don’t like your work of stylized neural networks at all. No matter who I ask, whether it’s interior designers or landscape designers, everyone doesn’t need these watercolor or pencil styles, everyone wants neuroprocessing to add as much realism as possible, and now what you’ve added is all pampering, except improving the rendering towards realism. By the way, thank you very much for the processing of concrete by neural networks, they do it filigree and very artistically.

Hi there, thanks for the detailed insight regarding D5 Render. I have conveyed your suggestions about the assets that you would love D5 to have, and hopefully, this may be realized in future releases.

  • Can you perhaps provide a screenshot of the "lawn grass, if it is scattered over the surface, it will climb beyond the plane " so we may be able to assess this situation further?

  • Why is imported HDRI Blurry?
High-definition HDRI takes up more resources when previewing, so the D5 compresses the HDRI to 2k when previewing to ensure accurate lighting.

Again, thanks for your valuable insights and honest opinion on the software. We gladly appreciate it.

I sent you screenshots of the grass above, they show that the grass goes far beyond the boundaries of the plane. I know that Corona render fixed this last year and now the grass and other objects there take into account the boundaries of the plane.
If you want, I can write to you whenever I encounter an error, or a lack of desired functions or settings. I really like D5 and really want to see this program as the best one available.

At the expense of HDRI, I will say that I would rather see its maximum resolution. It seems to me that the HDRI quality should be selected depending on the power of the computer. In D5 there is a simplified view of the render, here you can leave a compressed map, and if a person has a powerful computer, then we would like to see a minimum of simplifications.

Hi there. Thank you for providing these screenshots.

  • I have tried to generate regular scattered grass on my end, which overextend in its designated plane. Thus, I have reported this to my team and will see what we can do about it. I will update you as soon as possible.
  • Alright, I’ll convey this suggestion, and hopefully, we can incorporate such a function in future releases.
  • You may voice your concerns, suggestions, and Ideas to help us develop the software further. We value constructive criticism, as it helps us a lot.

Thank you.
