Does anyone know how to render diamonds in D5? I need to get that crystalline effect that diamonds have. I’ve tried all forms of glass material, but am not getting a desired effect.
TIA.
Hello you can play with refraction settings for the glass material
Hello. You are right julienfischel, just play with the transparency and the lights by modifying the caustic and the effects you will have this result
To prepare your materials well, I recommend using a “photo studio” type HRDI map with a dark gray background and assets around to see the real reflections
I tried that. Even tried adding thickness, it helps a bit, but i dont get the sharp reflections. Guess am gonna try some more options.
Ok, i didnt try adding caustics, will try that. thanks.
This was my reference image…
And this is what i’ve managed.
Not totally happy with the diamond. The caustics dont look natural. And notice the reference image diamond, see the overall brightness it has? How do we achieve that?
Hi, you are right is not the same as the reference, but see the diamond and made with many faces, which in reflection and angle give that brilliance. I do not understand about Gioelli, but as a graphic technician to rag that state I have to think about it, you used the custica ok, but you have seen that I also changed some things about the effects from my example.
I notice that the diamond design is therefore not seen a little AO to define it, or make sure that the cutting of the diamond is seen, perhaps a little bit changes.
Hi again, I know a little to play, downloading a gioel on 3D Warehouse. Then loaded it on D5, I put the same characteristics as the diamond as before you saw.
Then I played with the weaving with the color and with some septions of transparency, this is the result
This is with AI
Transparency color
Transparency sloting
Effect
hmmm… you have given me an idea. Now let me try that and share the results.
thanks
