Or you can try with the vegetation, giving the shape of the roof, then insert the vegetation with a certain inclination, after which you remove the mapping of the vegetation and put it, for example that of the Bamboo with the cannettato, you have to do this in the graphics program and then sync it to D5.

I think we do not have this material in the Assets Library, you may need to make it in modeling software because the effect may be hard to make through textures.

Hi, three years have passed since this moment, now the thatched roof material for a rendering needs to do a search for a 3D model for your graphics program, then if you want a PBR material here too you have to look on the Web. But if you want something fast and realistic you have to use AI on the Web, like NANO BANANA, Creating the image with D5 and then exporting it to one of these AI sites give the input by writing what you would be worth, surely there will be errors, but in the end you will have your roof perfect straw.
Too bad that with so much AI in D5 it doesn’t have the help function that Nano Banana gives you, you can add people, make videos by inserting your images, like commercials, etc… etc…
Try this way, go to the gallery there is a project of mine that I have added now where there is an 18 second film showing the restaurant with people eating.
This done with AI, which doesn’t give you D5
