How to hide groundplane without hiding terrain?

How do I remove/hide the groundplane without affecting the terrain? My project is on a mountain so I need to be able to see below the horizon.

Hi @garrettdoidge

When the Terrain feature acts as the model’s main plane, the ground plane becomes inherently dependent on it. Therefore, removing the ground plane necessitates removing the terrain features as well, unless the terrain originated in your 3D modeling software.

I see. So the only real workaround would be to model the terrain in my modeling software (Revit, in this case) and then hide the D5 terrain element?

Indeed, can you send a screenshot of what you’re trying to achieve?

Here’s two screenshots from my project. I made a custom HDRI background using a picture from the actual site, but seeing as the site is near a mountain peak, the majority of the background ends up below the horizon line. It would be nice to be able to keep the terrain near my site and hide the groundplane.

Edit: in taking these screenshots, I got an idea for how I might be able to work around this. I could export images from each scene, one with landscape and one without, and erase just the groundplane in photoshop. Not a perfect solution but should work well enough for now.

Hi @garrettdoidge

Oh alright, I understand. You can mimic the exact environment of the site by inserting a height map coming from Google Maps (exact site location).

Although this could take some time and would certainly make your D5 Render file heavier, if that’s an issue, I think it might be best to do some post-process editing in Photoshop just like what you have mentioned.
