How to Fix the Low FPS - (comparison)

Hello,

I’m currently facing problem with the low FPS when opened some work files, I tried to turn on “FPS Booster for Complex Geometry” and “Super Resolution” but it didn’t change anything, also I tried to not open any tabs files but it doesn’t work.

Here’s the problem and comparison when I try to open it using different PC which I thought have the ‘almost the same specifications’ (Correct me if I’m wrong about this), here I’m using same work file:

  1. The first picture is showing the D5 render’s statistics, the VRAM, and system information ( 32G + Intel Core i7-14700F + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti )
  2. The second picture is also showing the D5 render’s statistics, the VRAM, and system information ( 32G + AMD Ryzen 7 5800X + NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 )

Please enlighten me about this comparison, does the different CPU has the biggest impact onto this issues? Or can anyone tell me how to increase the low FPS and to fix this issue.

Thank you.

In images 1 and 2, I noticed that the CPU, RAM, and VRAM usage is significantly higher compared to image 2.
Are the graphics card drivers on both machines the latest version?
I think the difference in Windows versions also contributes to this discrepancy.

Hi, yes i noticed that too that the PC01 usage are higher than PC02 even tho PC01 opened less tabs than PC02. As you can see from this picture, the PC01 use the latest version of the graphics card meanwhile the PC02 not updated yet but can run faster. If the windows is the issue, so it means that the windows 10 is better match with D5?

Please if you know why the PC02 can run faster even tho PC01 also almost has the same specs.

Please refer to the article below to see if it helps.

Personally, I have used D5 on both Windows 10 and 11, and my experience suggests that Windows 10 provides a better performance. Since then, I’ve been using D5 exclusively on Windows 10. Currently, I’m not sure if D5 has been fully optimized for Windows 11, so I recommend reaching out to the D5 Render admin team for clarification.

There are already some posts on the Forum discussing this issue, and the D5 admin team has also confirmed that Windows 11 is not as good as Windows 10.
However, those posts are quite old.

In my opinion, you should just use them for reference. For accurate information, it’s best to consult the D5 admin team.
Thank you!

Oh I see, so there’s already a concern about it. Hope the admin team can help us and find the solution.

Thank you for the help.

Hi @3dteam thank you for sharing a detailed description of this issue and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience. Have you checked the FPS status on empty scenes as well?

Could you please confirm the version of Win10 and Win11 on PC1 and PC2 respectively. To further troubleshoot this, could you provide us with this scene file as well as the log files from PC 1 and PC2. D5 Support Tool - Get Help / Tech Support - D5 RENDER FORUM

We can also see that the VRAM usage is quite high on both devices, and in this state your GPU has become unstable. I recommend that you also update your graphics card drivers for compatibility and better performance in general. Many thanks

Hi. sorry for late resnpons. So, on empty scene it works well. The version of Win11 is 23H2 (Win11 Pro) and Win10 is 22H2 (Win10 Pro).

Sorry, I can’t send the file because it’s office’s work project.

Hi there,

The 'FPS Booster for Complex Geometry performance improvement depends on two main factors:

  • Firstly, with better ray tracing capabilities, the GPU itself leads to a more significant performance boost.
  • Secondly, this feature is primarily designed for scenes with many meshes, such as those with many plants, where the improvement will be more noticeable.

However, there are cases where enabling this feature does not result in any FPS improvement since enabling this feature should either improve or maintain the FPS. If there’s a decrease, it’s a bug and please let us know immediately

As for your query if the CPU does have a major impact in using D5 Render.

  • In general, different CPUs have little effect on D5. However, it is recommended to turn off CPU overclocking for stable performance.
  • Unless you’re using one of these CPUs, Intel Core i9-13900K/KF/KS and i9-14900K/KF/KS its another case~

As for your question, regarding why the other PC performs better than the other one considering they have similar specifications.

  • Although Windows 10 and 11 are compatible with D5 Render, the latter version of Windows does have few to no issues compared to the latest versions. This may also apply to other software such as SketchUp 2024 (which they have confirmed that they have some issues with Windows 11). Nevertheless, we are working on resolving existing issues which may hopefully be fixed in subsequent releases.
  • 4070 vs 4070 Ti — The RTX 4070 Ti is much more powerful compared to its base model. RTX 4070 Ti outperforms RTX 4070 by a moderate 18% based on our aggregate benchmark results.

Generally, we do recommend optimizing your project files by:

  • Organizing or grouping assets according to where they are usually used. We recommend hiding assets and objects that are not evident in a specific scene inorder to avoid unnecessary GPU Usage.
  • We are currently monitoring an issue where some old archives opened in version 2.9 experience excessive resource consumption. We will be releasing the fix in subsequent release.

Hi, thank you for explaining and try to help my issues. So, the CPUs doesn’t really effect on D5.

And yes the problem is RTX 4070 Ti way more stronger than RTX 4070 that’s why I don’t understand why this file run slower when using RTX 4070 Ti.

Thank you foe explaining all the way, it really helps!

This is not really accurate, if your CPU is not fast enough to pass the information to your graphics card, there is a risk of bottleneck.

Yeaa bro I don’t really mean it doesn’t effect on D5, like he said before, it effect little, but also my question is like “which CPU that could run faster” because although the PC01 have stronger GPU but it run slower on this file

Hi there,

As mentioned by @Anthony_D5, there could be several factors such as:

  • Windows Version
  • Graphic Driver’s Version
  • Other PC Environment factors

You can try updating your NVIDIA Graphic Card Driver and see if there are any differences in performance. I also recommend running GPU-Z instead of relying upon the statistics with D5 Statistics or the TaskManager, it is much more accurate.

You can also check our User Self-Test Data (Benchmark) to see different combinations of CPU & GPU and what works best together. Thank you.
