How to alter terrain plane height

Hello. I’ve just imported a Sketchup model that has a small amount of geolocated terrain that I have altered by cutting out an area for a swimming pool, but in D5 the default ground plane hides the pool - how can I alter the height of the ground plane?

I haven’t tried using the terrain tools yet so I thought I’d try using them to fix this issue, but I got this message:

I don’t know what that means as I’ve not used the terrain tools.

Hi there. The prompt window “Terrain controller already exists in this scene; cannot add another” basically means that the terrain features have already been added to your model. An easy indicator is the ground plane itself; when you open D5 Render in the latest version, it is usually turned on by default.

If you wish to edit the terrain and proceed to cut or depreciate an area for your swimming pool, you can do so by clicking the “Terrain” in the object panel, which will prompt the Terrain Inspector.

Thank you.

Thank you, I didn’t realise you had to have it selected first to activate the tools. However, that does seem like a redundant step in the process if the tools only interact with the terrain rather than the imported model.

Hi, it was done this way for now, so users may have the option to turn off the Terrain Plane if it’s needed (for model optimization purposes). This will definitely be developed further in future releases to ensure users’ smooth workflow. Thank you.
