HELP D5 Shuts down my power supply

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing a strange and frustrating issue when using D5 Render on my laptop, and I’m hoping someone might have a solution.

My setup:

  • AORUS 5 laptop
  • Intel Core i7
  • NVIDIA RTX 3070
  • Windows (latest updates installed)

Here’s the issue: when I launch and start using D5 Render, the battery stops charging — even though the charger is connected. The laptop doesn’t turn off, but it stops drawing power properly. Performance becomes extremely slow and laggy.

Once I close D5, the only way to get the battery to start charging again is by unplugging the charger from the wall and plugging it back in. Just reconnecting it to the laptop doesn’t work. But this doesn’t solve the issue — it just resets things temporarily. As soon as I open D5 again, the same problem occurs.

I sent the laptop to a technician who stress-tested the GPU and other hardware, and everything worked fine — even at full load — outside of D5. I also tried installing older versions of the software. Version 2.5 seemed to work better at first, but eventually the same issue returned.

Has anyone encountered this before? Any ideas on what could be causing it or how to fix it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi @mvictoria.heredia09

I apologize for the inconvenience. Does this occur to all of your files or is it specific? Can you please send the following images:

Suggestions:

  1. Please also make sure that D5 is utilizing your NVIDIA RTX GPU by modifying NVIDIA’s control panel or simply disable your iGPU (if you have one)
  2. Make sure drivers are updated, or do a clean reinstallation.
  3. Updating your BIOS may also help; some users have experienced uncommon but serious issues with their device while running d5, but were able to resolve them through updating their BIOS.

If none of these suggestions helped:

  1. Please generate a log file + send us your D5 Scene File. You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled ‘Clov-Forum HELP D5 Shuts down my power supply

Note: Let me know if you have sent it after doing the suggested solutions.
