Hi,
this is my first d5 rendering test, but I don’t like the quality yet. Maybe it’s because of the dark part of the island, but what bothers me the most is the burning sky and I don’t know what to do to get a nice blue sky with clouds and so on. I use HDR. There is a day and a night scene.
I did it but dont find an soultion to fix the window or the wood of the Island I put 2 rectangle lights in front of the window or the bleeding out of the right top corner. Because at the first render it was to dark from my point of view
Also, if you are wanting the outside to look less blown out, there are two different things you can try. One is to adjust the exposure. This can be tricky as you will need to go between adjusting the skylight values and exposure to get an accurate look. The second is to adjust the color of the glass material. Using normal glass, if you select the base color and pick HSV you can adjust the V value. This will darken the color of the glass and will reduce the amount of glare you get coming through the glass without adversely affecting the transparency. Be advised, this will reduce the amount of ambient light that comes through the window so you will need to adjust the other two values to make up for that change. Or, you can render out two different versions of the scene and splice them together.
To fix the issue with the sky, you need to adjust the light qualities. Under environment when you have the HDR selected, press the button that is highlighted in blue on the image below. This will give you the option to adjust the skylight and background for the HDR. If you’d the sky to look less blown out, you will want to adjust the background tab to be a lower value. This will bring out the color of the HDR sky. You might need to bring it down to .1 to .25. Skylight adjusts the ambient lighting that you will see within the scene so if you raise the skylight value it should help light up the island a bit more.
