Duplicating a project?

Hi there,

I am facing a situation in which I am not sure what to do.
I have a fully prepared project, which I want to create a variation of it and keep the old one as it is. Think of it this way, I want to make a new proposal for a new project using this finished project.

I used to do lots of “options” in Sketchup(tags) and easily could change the design and render it using other render engines, but since D5 still does not sync with Sketchup tags, I have to recreate a new model.

So, I saved my D5 as a new file in a new folder, then tried to copy the SketchUp file and import it into the new D5 file, assuming everything was going to show up as in the old model, but unfortunately, I have a raw model in the new D5 file. No material is set correctly, and it looks like a fresh new file.

Generally, I want to work on the old project, but I want to keep the old one as it is, so I created a new one. Now how to set the old setup in the new D5, which already has a copy of the old SketchUp file imported? Or any other way to do this?

It should be a simple task in general, but I am not aware of it.
In my mind: How to fully duplicate a project?

hi, better u copy complete folder and rename it.

It does not work since it is still loading the same SKP file, which was loaded before.
I need to replace the SketchUp file(exactly the same file) so I do not have to edit it all over again.

ok, what happen when u reload modified skp with same name but from new folder u created.

I do not see any option to reload an imported file but if you mean importing it from the new path, then it is going to be raw and no material is adjusted.

Anyways, I have no idea what happened and I think I make it work!!
I add the SKP to local in old file and then opened the new SKP file synced it with D5 - then tried to import that one from local. and delete the original. but it disconnected the sync then so it did not link the model with D5, and then I do not know how, but it imported the new SKP file with material!

I am not sure what happened but it has to get clear for me.

Hi @nima.mousavi9

I think you can open your new D5 File (copied one) first, then proceed to open your SKP. This way, you will be prompted with this window. Then, proceed to create a new link model
