I have a project which was made in sketch up and imported to blender and then imported to d5, and the viewport is very very laggy. There is a lot of object overlap, can that reduce the foe and make the viewport laggy?
Hi there. It depends on how heavy the file is, but usually, if the model is high-precision, the lag is evident.
- Can you tell us if the file you refer to is heavy enough?
- Have you tried importing the SketchUp file directly to D5 compared to Skp > Blender > D5? Is there any difference?
Thank you.
Hi Clovis! So the file is not that heavy , the sketch up model is 70mb and the blender file is 196mb.
And on d5 it shows around 2,000,000 faces.
And yes I did try importing the all file directly into d5 and it ran like butter
So I did some tests yesterday and I feel like there is an issue with the sync from blender in the latest blender version.because when I went back to 2.8 the model started working better (60fps)but now it only works fast if I save the project after syncing the files otherwise I get around 7-8 fps
Hi there. I tried to replicate the issue by exporting my SketchUp file (30MB) to a .dae file and then importing it into Blender. After opening it in Blender I proceeded to bake the materials with Texture Resolution set at 1k. After that, I tried to two options:
- Export to .D5A file - FPS is normal and smooth
- Using “sync” - FPS is normal and smooth.
Can you send your SKP file to us so we can also test this issue on our end? You may send it to support@d5techs.com and have it titled “Clov-Forums SKP > Blender > D5” Thank you.
